Formula ford/sports car racing driver
Michael Ross Gibaut is a 26 year old racing driver who has been has racing in the world of UK Formula Ford for EMax Motorsport and Souley Motorsport, and also tested for Mazda Motorsports in the US. He has a degree from the University of Central Lancashire (Myerscough) where he graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Motorsport Management & Logistics.
Whilst studying, he continued to race for professional Formula Ford teams and raced at Silverstone, Brands Hatch & Castle Combe.
Michael now works as a Logistics supervisor in the UK and continues to love racing.
Career Highlights –Karting
Michael is a Karting Champion having won two championships during his Karting days. In 2008 he won the Champion Driver of the Year for his Club and in 2010 won the Karting Junior Championship in the Rotax 125cc class. In 2011 he was awarded the Club Trophy for the most consistent and competitive driving for that season.
Career Highlights – Formula Ford
From 2013 to 2016, Michael has raced with two professional Formula Ford teams based in the UK. He has raced at Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Castle Combe.
In 2014 & 2015 Michael raced on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit as support races for the British GT Championship and F3, and in 2015 achieved a front row start at Silverstone in the Walter Hayes Trophy.
In 2018 Michael was invited by Mazda Motorsports in the US to test at their spring training at Barber Motorsports Park, in Alabama.
At the end of the 3 days Michael had impressed two teams but after 18 months of hard work to secure funding/sponsors, Covid 19 closed the world and all motorsport stopped.
Now he is ready to get back into that seat and return to the one race he relishes the opportunity to race in again.
2022 FOCUS
Now that Covid 19 is behind us, Michaels focus is on a return to Silverstone to compete in the world renowned Walter Hayes Trophy at the home of British Motorsport.
The Walter Hayes Trophy boasts some of the busiest grids with driver’s from around the world lining up. Your guaranteed close wheel-to-wheel racing by the Formula Fordsters.
SATURDAY Features a frantic day of qualifying races for all Formula Ford competitors. Over 100 cars begin the event, driven by both professional and amateur racers as they battle through a series of heats to reach Sunday’s all-important knockout phase.
SUNDAY Day two sees drivers back on-track and attempting to progress through knockout races to the all-important Grand Final - the final race of the weekend - that crowns the winner with the prestigious Walter Hayes Trophy.
Watching Hill Climbs in Jersey, Channel Islands and going to the French Grand Prix with my Dad and Grandad is where I developed my passion for Motorsport as a young child. Came back from the GP and said I wanted to start racing !
